The glory of Rome is not forgotten
Rome had many memorable accomlishments which influenced many things in todays society. First, they made the dome which was a structure often used in educational or government builings. Next, they constructed the aquaduct to transfer water from the mountains to the city. Today the aquaduct is still used but we call them diches, we use them to divert flood water away from the city. At their peak in 117 A.D. the romans conquered most of the land around the mediteranean sea, including Asia minor, Syria, Northern Africa and Britian.
There were many different things that happened which led the fall of Rome. For instance, poor leadership was one reason for the decline. Also, a cruel emperor named Commodus wasted money on entertainment, alcohol and spent a large portion of his time fighting gladiators instead of ruling. A declining economy also played a large role in the decline. Roman coins started losing their value when under Commodus' rule, romans began to remove gold from thier coins and replaced it with copper and other metals. Last, germanic tribes began attacking roman borders. One of rome's soldiers was a visigoth spy. Visigoths were the germanic tribe that attacked rome and conqered it.
At its peak in 117 A.D., Rome was the most powerful empire. Weather it is the aqueduct, the dome, or their military power, Rome's accomplishments can still be seen today. Unfortunately because of poor leadership, lack of attention to the falling economy and many other issues, Rome was more open to enemy attack. The visigoths, along with other germanic tribes, saw the opportunity to attack and ended up cockering Rome. In my opinion, Rome should be appreciated for all their achievements that are still being used today.
